A New Type Of Typography

A New Type Of Typography post thumbnail image

Niral Parekh, a graphic designer and creative director, has devoted numerous hours to perfecting his Type of Letters installation. The installation creates words, symbols, numbers, and letters out of thousands of mail, flyers, envelopes, postcards, newspapers, and small packages. In the installation, Parekh was able to recreate the word ‘type’, the letter ‘A’, the number ’50’, the symbol ‘@’ and the New York Times logo.

Arranging the mail was a time consuming endeavor as each project demanded up to 18 consecutive hours of work, not to mention the hours Parekh spent in constructing the mail organizer with strict size requirements in mind. Parekh’s dedication to typography is evident in the care taken to recreate the characters of language with pieces of quotidian exchange between people.
